“I often think that the night is more alive and more richly colored than the day.”
– Vincent Van Gogh
“Night, the beloved. Night, when words fade and things come alive. When the destructive analysis of day is done, and all that is truly important becomes whole and sound again. When man reassembles his fragmentary self and grows with the calm of a tree.”
– Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
“There is something haunting in the light of the moon; it has all the dispassionateness of a disembodied soul, and something of its inconceivable mystery.”
– Joseph Conrad
Le berre de rivière (The River Berre)
Tables and chairs
Against an ancient
Stonewall
Across from le
Café
If you are lucky
A seat can be yours
So many tourists
Pageant of color
Paints the sky
As the sun disappears
West
Below
La berre
Dried up
Fish to dust
Few remaining puddles
Disappear rapidly
To be return with
November rains
Un verre de vin rouge
For now
A book
As I wait until
Stars
Take center
Stage
A show that takes
My breath away
Bisous,
Léa
Ah Lea, this is love.y. I can almost picture you sitting outside the cafe with your book and verre de vin rouge!
Catch a star for me!
Love
Christine xx
Merci! However, it would be even better if you could share it! You can see the spot in one of the old blog photos.
If the wind dies down a bit, I will catch a star for you this evening and tie it to the next card!
Bisous,
xxx
Thank you! I will wait with anticipation 🙂
We actually have sun and warmth here today! It feels good but is only a remnant of the summer, tomorrow will be back to wind and rain 🙂 xx
There should be plenty of sun here for some time yet. It is vendange (grape harvest) and very busy. There isn’t a cloud in the sky so I can tip my head and count stars until I run out of numbers. 🙂 xx
How wonderful! I may have to come and live with you! Lol xx
There is room, however, there are three flights of stairs. However, for a visit, I think we could work something out that would be much more user friendly! 🙂
It’s a lovely thought! Yes, stairs and me are no longer compatable! Lol x
This 300+ year old town house has a total of four flights and each floor has very high ceilings. The stairs are elliptical and a bonus workout! lol
What I have in mind is my friends down the street run a chambres d’hotes (B&B) and would be happy to have you stay. It is so charming and there are rooms available on the ground floor. I am down there often as I have no outdoor space and their garden is stunning!
That sounds perfect! My mobility has decreased so much over the last three years or so. My immediate challenge is to make the trip to Ireland on the ferry to see the bab y. My husband has persuaded me – finally – to buy a lightweight wheelchair for the boot of the car just in case. I HATE the idea of it, I am not ready for this yet! I am someone who darts here there and everywhere doing e erything!! Not anymore, this MS has brought me to my knees, it’s a monster.
This is where the poetry helps so much, just an outpouring of feelings and the fun ones just provide a light distractionxx
I understand more than you might think. An accident while working left me with permanent nerve damage. Fortunately most days are good. Yet, the winter often brings more problems…
It seems I shall have to create some humor! lol

It is one of life’s best therapies I think 🙂 xx
Laughter is absolutely the best medicine. Throw in some joy and WOW! 🙂 xx
You’ve just made me smile out loud! X
Remember the song: That’s what friends are for… ? 🙂 X
This is one lovely poem, Lea…just like you I love star gazing, preferably on moonless nights when stars just seem to carry on an animated conversation discussing who will wear the tiara as brightest star of the night…
I love the metaphor! As I gaze tonight, I will keep that in mind. Merci!
Ah, this is lovely. Sadness in lines like “fish to dust” (which is one I particularly like) and then the knowledge that the river will fill again in time. Very soothing.
It is a great way to wind up an evening. Merci
This could make anyone fall in love with poetry, thank you. You make my heart smile.
You make me smile! 🙂

Thank you claudia. Today on my french blog is a poem about Paul Cézanne both in English and French. I hope you enjoy it. I don’t usually do quotes on this blog but today, I could not resist. France has given me a life I never dared dream was possible.
took me there
You have been there many times! 🙂
