So very true – we all have our own path to follow. Often without a map, cos a map is not helpful at all!
You are right. A map only marks where someone else has gone.
Great quotes, Lea…. the Thoreau has been one of my mantras for most of my life… the end of your poem reminds me of the quote about, Don’t walk behind me, don’t walk ahead of me, just walk beside me and be my friend… nice post today!

there’s much to say about journeys and directions and finding our way and deciding when to follow others..good stuff…also like the einstein quote…
