Suit of armour

“Quiet people have the loudest minds.”  Stephen Hawking

“Don’t underestimate me because I’m quiet. I know more than I say, think more than I speak and observe more than you know.”  Michaela Chung

“Opinion is the lowest form of human knowledge. It requires no accountability, no understanding. The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another’s world. It requires profound purpose, larger than the self kind of understanding.” Bill Bullard

Suit of armour

Hard to believe

She choses to wear her

Hair as though the wind

Has had its way

Who would want

To dress so casual

Borderline slovenly

As if it is a uniform

Others cast aside

Her shoes, worn

No, pathetic

So out of date

Lacking style, fashion unconscious

If you even notice her

She is off in a corner

Back to any available wall

Book, journal, alone

Sometimes she is joined by others

Pulled from her pages

She holds them in her gaze

Square on, silent

Nodding her head, offering a hand

Armed with hugs

A quiet word as needed

She holds up the mirror

Offers a different view

Her mask keeps frivolity at bay

But those in need

Always seem to find her

Even seek her out

And for them, she is there

Telling no tales

Switch off unnecessary power consumption. It saves you money, but more important, that amount of power you don’t use, does not have to be produced!

Also, look up the power consumption of your big devices, like fridge, freezer or oven. Often, it’s a good decision, to buy a new device that can do the same as the old one but, with the consumption of less electrical power. Sometimes, the amount of money comes back to you in only a few years of usage because of the saved amount of electrical power. Keep in mind, the price of electrical power increases every year. So, the amount of money also increases every year.

Less consumption of electrical leads to a lower number of needed power plants. Coal plants have an environmental impact by polluting the air. Nuclear power plants are an enormous high risk for the environment and the people. Just in…

Mirror, mirror…

“Mirror is my best friend, because when I cry, it never laughs.”  – Sir Charles Chaplin

“Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing.”               – Camille Pissarro

If only our eyes saw souls instead of bodies how very different our ideals of beauty would be.”                   – author unknown

“People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within.”
-Elisabeth Kübler-Ross

Mirror, Mirror

I embark on a journey

To find out just who is this person

Buried inside my eyelids

The one who lurks in front of the bathroom mirror

As I blow-dry my hair each morning

She mimics my movements

While I brush my teeth and short reddish hair

Thank you Clariol

Or is she mocking me?

We share a wardrobe

It is debatable whom the clothes fit better

I prefer to think the mirror is the one

Telling the tall tales

A mirror should never be believed

If it were kinder

Perhaps I wouldn’t avoid its glare

“I don’t see myself as beautiful, because I can see a lot of flaws. People have really odd opinions. They tell me I’m skinny, as if that’s supposed to make me happy.”   Angelina Jolie

Extreme

I’ve often heard

There is no such thing

As too thin

Yet I wonder

Seeing that woman in

The café this morning

Skin stretched tautly

Across a fragile frame

Excruciating exposé

Threatening to shatter

Cheekbones, eye sockets

She turns, tries to

Smile – even the lips

Have no curves

Mediterranean blue eyes

Flicker with a smile

Longing to escape
