Doors

everywhere we go

doors are behind us

some loom ahead

as though we must possess

some magical key

to gain entry

there are doors that

we must labor to gain entry

but our toil will be rewarded

some doors left ajar

anyone can access

you are welcome here

other doors remain sealed

regardless of our

sacrifice – slammed

in our faces, without a trial

publicly shamed for

our endeavors

impenetrable is the threshold

of the closed mind

entombed by ignorance, hatred,

control of what

they cannot comprehend

that which frightens – doorkeepers

doorkeepers who prey

on the doors of those

they chose to marginalize,

disenfranchise, condemn

robbing us of the power

of choice – self determination

… life

– Léa

Self portrait

“The ultimate lesson all of us have to learn is unconditional love, which includes not only others but ourselves as well.”   – Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

“At the heart of personality is the need to feel a sense of being lovable without having to qualify for that acceptance.”   –  Paul Tournier

Self portrait

Sometimes

At the mirror

I can smile

Seeing something new

Something I can

Appreciate

The hair has lost

It’s frizz – not yet grey

But it is the

Kindness that

Sparkles from

Mes yeux

And it is

Spreading

Like branches

Reaching out

Allowing me

At last to

Embrace

Myself

thief

for that is what

you are

entering

unobserved

stealing my thoughts

having your way with them

*

the nights

are the hardest

in your absence

pillows cannot

caress me

their support fails

*

running rampant

through my dreams

always three

dimensional

i feel the

roughness of

your hands

 *

your voice reverberates

in whispers and moans

and at times I marvel

as your warmth

penetrates my

dreams

Falling

“The only way to get rid of temptation, is to yield to it.”  – Oscar Wilde

Falling

I am

Falling

Falling

Falling

Spinning

Turning

Somersaulting

Out of

Control

And

I’m

Afraid

And it

Excites me

Memoir

“Love is forever, lust is for the moment…got a moment?” – Michael Gorman

“Too much of a good thing can be wonderful…” – Mae West

Memoir

You shall be

My pillow book

My brush

Will record

Each story

We create

Slowly

I master

Every pore

Your flesh

Will sing

With the

Tears, lust

And laughter

Shared

Exclamation points,

Ellipsis

I shall

Punctuate you

With care

Overlooking

Naught

Each mark

I leave

Every stroke

I make

Indelible

Sanctuary

“I speak two languages, Body and English.”

– Mae West

Sanctuary

Your eyes

Are my deepest

Sacred pools

Light reflects

As it dances

Across the iris

Following my movements

As I take command

Distraction averts your focus

Boundaries collide and fall

I shall return again and again

For sustenance, for warmth

To grow in the hallowed embrace

Of this sanctuary

Bisous,

Léa

La chatte

“Of all God’s creatures, there is only one that cannot be made slave of the lash. That one is the cat. If man could be crossed with the cat it would improve the man, but it would deteriorate the cat.” – Mark Twain

“Way down deep, we’re all motivated by the same urges. Cats have the courage to live by them.” – Jim Davis

“There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats.”- Albert Schweitzer

une chatte d’Albas

La chatte

They call her

Feral

Total lack of moralitié

She prowls about

Mon village

Sampling all the treats

On offer

Living by instinct

Reality not judgment

Despite nine lives

She knows how quickly

Today becomes the past

Her time is not to be wasted

Taking her pleasure

As she finds it

Satiated she moves on

In front of the fire

Reminiscent

Her rough tongue

Traces a map of pleasure

Washing, always washing

Body memories – retracing her passion

Spent

She sleeps

Perchance to dream

Mirror Mirror

“Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing.” – Camille Pissarro

Mirror, Mirror

I embark on a journey

To find out just who is this person

Buried inside my eyelids

The one who lurks in front of the bathroom mirror

As I blow-dry my hair each morning

She mimics my movements

While I brush my teeth and short reddish hair

Thank you Clariol

Or is she mocking me?

We share a wardrobe

It is debatable whom the clothes fit better

I prefer to think the mirror is the one

Telling the tall tales

A mirror should never be believed

If it were kinder

Perhaps I wouldn’t avoid its glare

MA CHAMBRE

“I am glad that I paid so little attention to good advice; had I abided by it I might have been saved from some of my most valuable mistakes.”      – Edna St. Vincent Millay

Line elliptical stairway

Ascension to where

Dreams occur

Nestled loosely

Between

Cotton clouds

Boundaries fall

In the darkness

Realities collide

Outside my window
