Nearly five years have gone by since I shared this post with you. As Hepburn said, Paris is always a good idea, once it re-opens, and safe to visit. There have been a number of new followers and not everyone wanders back in a blog’s archives so I’m playing it again… and hope you won’t mind?
“Paris is always a good idea.” – Audrey Hepburn
“You will do foolish things, but do them with enthusiasm.” – Sidonie Gabrielle Colette
“Too much of a good thing can be wonderful.” – Mae West
“No temptation can ever be measured by the value of its object.” – Sidonie Gabrielle Colette

You must remember this…
“We’ll always have Paris”
Rick whispers to Ilsa
The memories of
Passion born
Romantic interlude
Lucien taking my hand
Dans la Louvre
His deep resonating accent
Thick as a fine paté,
A call to arms, to lips, tongues…
Two arms guide me
Lost in Ribera’s
Club-footed boy
Spanish room
His favourite,
La Louvre closes
I’m introduced to
The Latin quarter,
Notre Dame,
Secluded niche
Spring grasses,
Canopy of leaves
Along the Seine
City of light
La ville de l’amour
No need for translation
Communication
Flows freely
Play it again…

Bisous,

Just beautiful Lea, I was lost in your words. 🙂
Thank you Becka. As you can imagine, I was lost elsewhere and years later, it is still a lovely memory of Paris… 😉
Glorious memories. So glad you re-posted as I hadn’t read this before.
Mary, you are kind. Once in awhile, someone goes back in the archeives are reminds me what is there and I thought I would dust that one off. The memories are golden. When you have been blogging as long as we have, we are bound to miss a few…
🙂
Lovely Poem and great quotes. Will love to visit Paris one day 😎
Thank you. I hope you do. It has something for everyone. However, when I moved to France, I chose a small village on the Mediterranean and adore it. 🙂
Well I’ve heard Nice is nice 😎
Et aussi tres cher! 😂
Hahah. Yes plenty of places like that in New York, too.
I lived there for six years. I prefer Paris… 😂
Yes I’m sure they are totally different vibes. Without having been there, I think I am more of a Rome kind of guy B-)
The expression some British friends often use is they are chalk and cheese. Of my favorite cities in the nation, NYC is tied for second place with Seatlle. They are very different and that is fine as I enjoy their differences. Number one will always be the city by the bay… However, I didn’t leave my heart there, I brought it to France and immediately knew I was home.
I feel like cities will be like fragrances. If I start giving myself too much of a choice, I will love them all and not be able to make a decision B-)
There is even a large different between NYC and Boston despite being relatively near each other.
It’s across the border but Vancouver is delightful. If you really want to travel, I highly recommend Da Nang, Hue…
I’ve been to Montreal which is really nice. I am on the opposite coast, here 🙂 My uncle vacationed in Viet Nam and was completed in love with it. I have a lot of close friends from SE Asia so maybe a trip to that region is in the works B-)
Of other places I have been, Dominican Republic was also amazing. I have been to other places in South America, but DR has the sun, the Caribbean water, the beautiful mountainous tropical landscape. The Caribbean really is it’s own tropical paradise.
These days, my travel focus is on Europe and particularly here in France. It is my home now and I want to explore it. It is, A Moveable Feast…
Oh yes. I find it’s best to make your home in a place you love being… rather than always trying to travel somewhere else than where you live B-)
I love your poem, so evocative of happy memories. It gave me a smile to start my day.
Liz, thank you for your kind words. Sorry for the delay. Allergies have wreaked havoc on my eyes and they are now recovering slowly. I’m still avoiding light which, unfortunately, includes the computer screen.
I’m sorry to hear about your allergy eyes. I had them a couple of weeks ago.
How kind, Liz. They are improving, slowly. It is miserable and the old adage says that “Misery loves company.” Whoever said that didn’t understand the Empath as we can’t bear to see anyone suffer… I’m glad your allergy season is behind you.
Your absolutely right about the Empath’s inability to see anyone suffer. I hope your eyes continue to improve.
Alas, we not only see it but feel it. But I suspect you already knew that. The eyes are still a bit sensitive to light (and of course the computer screen) but much improved. Thank you, Liz.
