Double – edged

“One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life: that word is love.”

– Sophocles

“Touch seems to be as essential as sunlight.” – Diane Ackerman

Double-edged

It is that soft

Underbelly tenderness

Of a first kiss

That first exploration

Of the one who made

My respirations shallow

My heart skips a beat

It is the sharp edges of

Each parting

The tearing of

Heartstrings

The bottomless

Vacuum of

Separation

      1. Merci lol I love French it’s so beautiful, especially old French singers like jacque briel French is so beautiful

      2. Mais oui! France is beautiful, I fell in love with it so much when I visited that I went back to California, sold my house and live here full time! The French are wonderful as well! 🙂

      3. The culture, the landscape, the people, the food… It just doesn’t get any better than this. As for the western world, I have no plans on ever returning.

    1. Ah, yes. I know those pangs of starvation… xoxo

You must be awfully busy as I haven’t seen a post in quite awhile! I hope you are well? xoxo

  1. Peaches and cream; as Cynthia said we cant seem to have one without the other. Two opposite feelings just beautifully and powerfully described. This is a fabulous poem, one of those with few words that say much!
    Love xxx

  2. This was intoxicating! It took me right back to my first kiss, and first heartache of course. “Love is never without pain” excellent poem Lea 🙂 xx

  3. ah it is double edged… the intimacy and joy of falling in love…and then that bottomless vacuum when we have to part… it’s still worth it…over and over again
